This shoe was built to enhance Chris Paul’s game. We know he plays at a quick tempo, and the CP3.V certainly looks like a speedy shoe. The ever-improving Podulon technology gives support and cushioning to the foot. There are details throughout that are important to CP, and give you some insight into Chris’ life. The number 61 is an important one for CP, as his grandfather was killed at age 61. Shortly after his death, CP dropped 61 points as a Senior at West Forsyth High as a tribute to his grandfather. There are 61 zonal cutouts seen all over the shoe reduce weight and provide breathability.
On the instep, you’ll see five slashes as a nod to this being his fifth signature shoe.
Bowling has always been one of CP’s loves, and that comes through in a number of ways in the CP3.V. Aside from its lower cut, 10 dots are lined up on the toe just as bowling pins would be. Also, just as bowling shoes all have the shoe-size labeled on them, each shoe has its shoe-size displayed within the traction pattern of the shoe.
Dots on the heel of each shoe pay tribute to his family. The left shoe has a series of nine, ten, then eleven dots to reference his wedding date of 9/10/11. The right shoe shows five, two, four, then nine dots for his son’s birthday of 5/24/09.
